The Books

The Reds' Heir's Ring

A fast-paced comedy/mystery for the discerning but indiscriminate sleuthing surrogate. Ideal for mass-transit commutes, short-hop flights, or early April holidays. Perfect gift for that *special* someone---you'll know who.

“The twisted spines of lightning reflected against the drab brick exterior. Inside the morose mortar interior, the eventual final resting place waited for the remains of a man who would be more known for what he didn’t do than what he did.”

Delve into a page-turning thriller concerning a concerned Detective Drake Bedford as he faces the damning and disturbing consequences of the one damned disturbing case he purposely never solved.

“Who dared bother him during nearly-naked drinky-drink time???”

FEINT PRAISE

Former friend: "Imagery is weird. Word choice is out of context on multiple occasions. I couldn't focus on what was happening in the story. I read further than I do for normal books when I don't like them. Then skipped to the end. Interesting chapter 2 and on, but it became quickly annoying."

Current spouse: "Oh, now I get it."

The Other Door

Stuart Toutlemonde was an ill-tempered jerk with a limited imagination and an above-average vocabulary. So, when a door opened to him to other worlds, he was ill-prepared to react, except to protest in a fairly articulate fashion most other twelve-year-olds could not

Stuart did not care about the giant (but silent) guinea pig. He certainly did not appreciate the Between, a grassland dotted with dried-up pools, because there was SO MUCH WALKING. And don’t you dare tell Stuart he’s important because he knows it’s simply not true.

No, Stuart just wanted to go home. Unfortunately, his adventure---spanning worlds, warring factions of ideologues, and super mean and highly personal insults--- was not overly helpful in that regard.

This other door was a superfluous and unwelcome intruder into Stuart’s otherwise peacefully dull existence. A door that thrust him into learning hard lessons, eating terrible food, and frantically avoiding being ripped to shreds by the local wildlife... but would it lead him home?
